Thanksgiving Blog

I have wonderful memories of Thanksgiving Day.  A chill in the air. Family gathered. Detroit Lions. The smell of roasted turkey throughout the house. My Mom’s cornbread dressing.  How can we celebrate any more?

Here are a couple of ideas for saying thank you in special ways:

First, as you are gathered with your family and friends, maybe at the dining room table, have someone read Psalm 24: 1-6 “The earth is the Lord’s and all that is in it, the world, and those who live in it; for he has founded it on the seas, and established it on the rivers. Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord? And who shall stand in his holy place? Those who have clean hands and pure hearts, who do not lift up their souls to what is false, and do not swear deceitfully. They will receive blessing from the Lord, and vindication from the God of the God of their salvation.  Such is the company of those who seek him,  who seek the face of the God of Jacob. “Going around the table, individuals may say something for which they are thankful to God in the past year.

Another idea is to have someone to read from I Corinthians 12:4-11. “Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of services, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone.”  Turning to the person to your left, identify a gift of theirs for which you are thankful (humor, organization, etc.).

Have a Happy Thanksgiving,

Bob
